This coming Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (Aug. 22-24) at the Omni Hotel in downtown Nashville, the Killer Nashville International Thriller, Mystery, and Crime Literature Conference is offering its two reader tracks FREE to the public. The eighteen panels, held over all three days of the conference, include debut novelists, award-winning and best-selling novelists, and more. Hear author Lee Goldberg talk about what goes on behind the scenes with MONK. Hear guest of honor Lisa Jackson and other romantic suspense authors talk about heating things up. Help Murder, She Wrote authors Donald Bain and Renee Paley-Bain celebrate Jessica Fletcher’s 25th Anniversary. On Sunday, join award-winning children’s author Kimberly Dana for a one-hour talk on teaching kids how to write suspense.
I’ll be speaking on the panel called Building Tension Through Mood and Atmosphere, which sounds sort of like a story about a menopausal women who murders her slacker husband, then buries his body in the wet cement foundation of the new highrise next door… but I could be projecting. Don’t come to see me, come to hear the amazing Edgar award winning William Kent Krueger. I’ll be the one stammering and sweating…if I manage to make it there at all, given my eerie pre-event dreams. Well, that alone might be reason enough to find the Omni Hotel’s Broadway Ballroom at 12:30pm on Friday August 22nd.
In addition to the two free tracks, admission to both on-site bookstores and all book signings are FREE OF CHARGE. Seating is limited, so first come, first served. General sessions and sessions in the writing and forensics tracks are not included. These require a Killer Nashville full-day or weekend pass.
Killer Nashville 2014 will be held on August 21-24, 2014 at the Omni Hotel in Nashville, Tennessee, with the fan tracks running from 10:00 AM on Friday, August 22 until 12:20 PM on Sunday, August 24.
